Active between the 1950s and '70s—in the golden age of Scandinavian design—Swedish interior decorator and furniture designer Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919-2009) is best remembered for his softly glowing, glare-free lightingfixtures, which were inspired by the "organic modern" approaches of Danish lighting master Poul Henningsen and Finnish icon Alvar Aalto. Objects made on the basis of a totally new design concept, able to overcome the static nature of the lighting fixtures in themselves. A collection of objects created at the height of a col- lective interdisciplinary work, made of technical, industrial, commercial and aesthetic skills disclosed best to give new life to light. A project led by Corrado Dotti based on an idea of archetypal beauty that combines elegance, functionality and playful- ness and gets lymph from an intense family history to project itself into the future and in the certainty that the future is built on the union of many skills “from the entrepreneur to the last workman”.

Josh Metersky and Aiden Bowman are the designers behind Trueing—a lighting and furniture design studio based in New York. To 'true', in verb form, is defined as bringing an object into its accurate, intended shape. Working from this usage, the studio's name reflects an ideology that guides each project, giving deference to the materials, functionality and people involved. Their work connects broad themes, fusing art-historical references with an engineer’s eye for mechanical connections and systems thinking. Informed by the past, but firmly rooted in contemporary culture, Trueing creates with precision and perfection in mind.
